Yardley, PA, January 11, 2007 - Activant Solutions Inc. celebrated a milestone with the sale of the 1,000th Activant Prophet 21™ enterprise software solution to City Plumbing and Electric Supply Company.

"Over the years, we have seen increasing demand for Prophet 21 by distributors who want a true Windows-based solution backed by the power of SQL Server," said Steve McLaughlin, senior vice president and general manager of Activant's wholesale distribution group. "Distributors are realizing that porting GUI screens over their existing UNIX-based software puts them at a disadvantage in a marketplace that requires speed, agility, and an ability to use business data to respond to changing customer needs."

Developed especially for wholesale distributors, Prophet 21 combines the familiarity of Windows with the depth of functionality and reliability of SQL Server. The SQL database enables Prophet 21 to integrate fully with any Windows-based product and lets distributors view all data in real time. It is also much more intuitive than flat-file systems - with fields named after the information captured and not obscure abbreviations.

"Years of distribution industry knowledge went into the development of Prophet 21," continued McLaughlin. "We continue to develop the product with the input of our customers to ensure that we continue to meet distributors' changing needs."

When City Plumbing and Electric Supply Company chose to move from its existing UNIX-based Activant® software to Prophet 21 , it capped a year-long search that included comparing Prophet 21 to other software for distributors.

"I am proud to announce that City Plumbing and Electric, a long-time Activant customer, is the 1,000th distributor to choose Prophet 21 as their enterprise software solution," said McLaughlin.

Selecting the Best

An Activant customer for more than 20 years, City Plumbing and Electric began preparing to move to a Windows-based solution a few years ago, before spending the past year evaluating three major software vendors for the distribution industry.

"The fact that we were existing Activant customers did not matter," explained Roger Moore, IT systems manager of City Plumbing and Electric. "We simply wanted to pick the best software for City Plumbing and Electric."

Despite the lengthy evaluation process, it didn't take long for Moore and the rest of City Plumbing and Electric's staff to realize that Prophet 21 was the right solution for them. "We set up departmental demonstrations of Prophet 21so we could concentrate on what our staff wanted and needed in new software," said Moore. "Everyone commented on its ease of use and how it will make our processes more efficient.

"Prophet 21 will make us a better company. The tools that the software gives us compared to our existing system are great and it will make our people more efficient across the board."
