YARDLEY, PA, October 25, 2006 - Recent enhancements to Activant Solutions Inc.'s Wireless Warehouse Management Solution (WWMS) will further streamline warehouse processes for distributors.

"Developed for Activant Prophet 21, WWMS is a fully integrated warehouse management solution," said Steve McLaughlin, senior vice president and general manager of Activant®. "WWMS increases the accuracy, control, precision, and monitoring capability for each order processed, and reduces the time and costs associated with traditional warehouse management by eliminating the need to add a separate database, run multiple updates, synchronize with another system, or handle stacks of paper. Additionally, WWMS improves inventory accuracy by automatically monitoring, updating, and reporting all inventory actions in Prophet 21."

Shortened Learning Curve

WWMS allows distributors to download important notes directly from Activant Prophet 21™ and display them on wireless scanners, allowing employees to view item notes during receiving or order line notes during picking.

While these notes improve the effectiveness of a distributor's current employees' actions, Mitch Davis, manager of the Everett, WA, branch of Stellar Industrial Supply touts the solution's ability to quickly turn a new employee into an effective warehouse worker. "We have found the learning curve with the WWMS to be relatively short for our new employees," he said. "Previously, it took a month or more to teach new employees where inventory was located before they could effectively pick orders, but the WWMS allows us to have the new employee picking orders on his own in the very first week."

One Solution for All Warehouse Processes

Not only does WWMS simplify the receiving process by giving distributors the ability to confirm inventory receipt line quantities as employees receive shipments, it also helps multi-branch companies ensure that the contents of every purchase order are received in the proper location.

Other enhancements include: putaway functionality that tracks items at the item/location level using an item/location attribute, and dedicated bin functionality that allows distributors to designate a stocking bin to refill picking bins. Additionally, the pull-to-pick feature streamlines picking small items by determining the actual shipping quantity at a weigh station.
