The effective and expiration date settings on the price maintenance screen allow you to plan and administer specials, promotions - even next year's pricing - in advance. You can effectively set up all of your pricing specials for the year, and as soon as the anticipated date hits, the updated pricing will automatically appear.

Prophet 21 does not limit how you calculate pricing. Some customers may receive a percentage off list price, while others may receive cost plus for some products and a set contract price for others. You may even base pricing on quantity breaks: rewarding your customers if they help drive down your costs with larger orders. Prophet 21 gives you the ability to choose from over 15 price/cost fields associated with your items to use as the basis of establishing a price for your customer.

Contract Pricing

Many customers have different needs that can only be met through special pricing. Prophet 21 can accommodate those needs.

For example, you may have a customer that intends to buy 1,000 drills a year. Prophet 21 enables you to set up a contract price for that product when purchased by that customer. Now, whenever the customer orders that drill, Prophet 21 automatically generates the contracted price, while all other customers continue to receive the standard price you set for them. The solution also tracks usage, so if six months into the contract you notice that the end-user has only purchased 50 of the 1,000 drills, you can renegotiate the contract.

Job-Based Pricing

With Prophet 21's job-based pricing, you can automatically apply special pricing to customers' orders for specified jobs. This way, when they order the product for normal use, they will get their standard price, but when buying for the job, they will get the job price.
